Ingredients

1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, well beaten
3 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 c. raisins (if raisins seem dry, soak in hot water and drain)
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugars.
Beat smooth and add eggs; mix well.
Sift together flour, soda and cream of tartar.
Set aside small amount in which to dredge raisins.
Add dry ingredients to other mixture, then raisins, flavorings and nuts.
Mix well and shape into small balls.
Press with a fork.
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 12 minutes.
