Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. sliced green tomatoes
    2 gal. cold water
    2 c. lime
    2 qt. white vinegar
    4 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Mix water and lime well.
    Then add tomatoes and soak 24 hours. Drain and change in fresh cold water 3 times, leaving one hour between changes.
    Drain the last time real good.
    Mix white vinegar and sugar.
    Add tomatoes and let soak overnight.
    Simmer about 1 hour or until color has changed.
    Then seal in hot jars.
