Orange Buttermilk Meringue Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    6 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. orange juice
    2 c. buttermilk
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    1 1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
    9-inch unbaked pie shell
    3 egg whites (for meringue)
Preparation
    In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
    With a wire whisk gradually blend in orange juice, the buttermilk and egg yolks.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture begins to boil; cook 2 to 3 minutes.
    Stir in orange peel.
    Remove pan from heat and set aside.
    Prepare 3 egg white meringue. Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Pour filling into baked pie shell.
    Spread meringue over hot filling.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
    Makes 8 servings.
