Old Favorite Walnut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted flour
    1 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 c. raisins or chopped dates
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/4 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into bowl; add walnuts and raisins or dates.
    To egg, add milk and melted shortening.
    Beat into flour mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan for 60 to 70 minutes or until done when tested.
