Ingredients

1/2 c. butter, room temperature
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 to 3 Tbsp. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 to 2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

In a medium bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add dry ingredients, beating until blended.
Divide dough into 2 equal portions.
Wrap and refrigerate until firm, 1 hour or longer.
Prior to baking, allow dough to stand at room temperature until soft enough to roll.
