7-Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lettuce, chopped up
    2 stems celery, sliced thin
    1 small green pepper, cut small
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    2 small onions, diced
    1 (8 oz.) box frozen peas
    1 small jar mayonnaise
    3 tsp. sugar
    1 small pkg. Cheddar cheese, grated
Preparation
    Dry all vegetables between paper towels (about 1 hour).
    Layer in order of recipe (using oblong dish, sheet cake size).
    Blend mayonnaise and sugar, spread over salad as icing.
    Sprinkle grated cheese over top.
    Refrigerate overnight.
