2 1/4 c. any kind self-rising flour
1/4 tsp. each: cinnamon and nutmeg
1/8 tsp. each: cloves and ginger
1/4 c. chilled butter or margarine
1/4 c. raisins
1/2 c. milk
1 large egg
1/4 c. sugar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Combine flour, sugar and spices in a mixing bowl.
Cut butter or margarine into flour, with pastry blender or blending fork, until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in raisins.
Combine milk and egg; add to flour mixture.
Stir until combined.
