Pickled Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    1/3 c. vinegar
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    2 c. sliced, cooked beets (can be canned beets)
    1 sliced medium onion (optional, but adds to flavor)
Preparation
    Combine water, vinegar, sugar, cinnamon, salt and cloves. Heat to boiling.
    Add beets and onion.
    Cover pan and simmer for 5 minutes.
    Chill.
    Makes 1 pint.
