Danish Pastry Apple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. margarine
    1/2 c. butter
    1 egg yolk
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. crushed Rice Krispies, cornflakes or Wheaties
    8 c. sliced apples
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg white
    1 c. powdered sugar
    1 Tbsp. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine flour and salt; cut in margarine and butter.
    Beat egg yolk in measuring cup; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well.
    Stir into flour.
    Roll half of dough into jelly roll pan.
    Sprinkle cold cereal on dough.
    Top with apples; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
    Roll out remaining dough to fit top. Seal edges.
    Beat egg whites until frothy; brush over top of dough.
    Bake until golden brown.
    Glaze warm bars with powdered sugar, milk and vanilla mixture.
