Asparagus Spoon Bread(Yields 6 To 8 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. milk
    1/2 c. yellow or white cornmeal
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. margarine
    2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar
    4 eggs, separated
    3 c. (2 1/2 lb.) asparagus, cooked and cut in 1/2-inch pieces
    2 tsp. minced parsley and chives
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Grease a 2-quart casserole.
    In a medium-sized saucepan, heat milk slowly.
    Add cornmeal and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until soft and thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Add sugar, salt, margarine, baking powder and cheese.
    Beat until cheese melts. When cooled, stir in egg yolks one at a time.
