Lemon Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 lb. butter
    1 lb. white raisins
    1 qt. shelled pecans
    3 c. flour
    6 hen eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 oz. pure lemon extract
    8 oz. candied pineapple
    8 oz. candied cherries
Preparation
    Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 tablespoon of warm water.
    Separate eggs.
    Beat egg whites (egg yolks are not needed). Combine all ingredients.
    For color, add 1 small jar of cherries and 8 ounces of candied pineapple.
    Place mixture in a stemmed cake pan, lined fully with brown paper that has been well-buttered.
    Bake 2 1/2 hours in a slow oven (300\u00b0).
