Raised Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. scalded milk
    1/4 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. butter or Crisco
    1/2 c. mashed potatoes
    1 pkg. yeast
    3 c. flour
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients; let cool. Add yeast, dissolved in water, beaten egg and remaining ingredients, then knead. Let rise. Roll out and cut. Let rise about 1/2 hour. Fry in deep fat.
