Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round beef, cubed
    6 c. cold water
    1/2 c. carrots, shredded
    1 small onion, sliced
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cover meat with 6 cups water; heat slowly and simmer 3 hours, or until tender.
    About 30 minutes before serving, add the vegetables and salt.
