Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening, melted and cooled
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Combine shortening, sugar, molasses and egg and beat well. Sift flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt together.
Add to first mixture.
Mix well.
Chill.
Form 1-inch balls.
Dip in water, then roll in granulated sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
