Perfect Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted enriched flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. corn meal
    2 eggs
    1 c. milk or buttermilk
    1/4 c. soft shortening
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; stir in corn meal.
    Add eggs, milk or buttermilk and shortening.
    Beat with rotary or electric beater until just smooth, about 1 minute (do not overbeat). Pour batter into greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake in hot oven (425\u00b0) for 20 to 25 minutes.
