Yuletide Toffee Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients

4 1/2 c. quick oats (uncooked)
1 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. margarine, melted
1/2 c. Karo corn syrup
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
12 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 Tbsp. shortening
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Heat oven to 450\u00b0. Grease 15 x 10 baking pan. Combine oats, sugar, margarine, corn syrup, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Firmly press mixture into pan. Bake 12 minutes or until brown and bubbly. Cool completely.
