Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg, flour and vanilla, mixing well.
    Spread in 13 x 9-inch ungreased pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly.
    Cover pan with cookie sheet (to melt chips) for 5 minutes.
    Spread melted chips evenly over top.
    Cut when cooled.
