South Ponderosita Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. cornmeal (self-rising)
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 can cream-style corn
    1 medium onion, grated
    1 green pepper, chopped fine
    1 can green chilies
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Melt shortening in an iron skillet.
    Mix all ingredients, including shortening, folding in cheese last.
    Pour into skillet. Bake at 350\u00b0 until done (about 1 hour and 15 minutes).
    Should be brown and firm.
