French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. maple syrup
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    sliced, dry bread
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together. Add all liquids and stir until blended. Dip slices of dry bread (crust may be trimmed) into batter and fry in deep fat at 370\u00b0.
    If batter is too thick, thin with milk. Serve hot with syrup or sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with halved strawberries.
    Yields 8 servings.
