Cape Cod Cranberry Bread - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. fresh cranberries
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. orange juice
1 egg
1/4 or 1/2 stick oleo
Preparation

Wash, drain cranberries and set aside.
Mix the next 5 ingredients and put 2 tablespoons of this mixture aside to use later.
Cut oleo into flour mixture.
Beat together and add to flour the orange juice and egg.
Put 2 tablespoons of flour into a sack and add cranberries.
Shake until the berries are coated and fold into batter.
Bake in a greased and floured pan for 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
Let cool in loaf pan and remove.
May add 1/2 cup nuts or 1 teaspoon grated peel to batter.
