Little Meat Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 tsp. shortening
    2 tsp. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 lb. ground pork
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    2 large onions, finely chopped
    6 green onions, chopped
    1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley (or flaked)
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. rubbed sage
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 tsp. dark or red pepper
Preparation
    Combine shortening and flour in a large Dutch oven.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until roux is caramel colored. Add pork, beef, onion, parsley and seasonings; cook over medium heat until meat is browned, stirring to crumble.
    Drain and cool.
