Belgian Stewed Leeks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 large stalks leeks
    1 c. water
    1/4 lb. butter
Preparation
    Wash leeks thoroughly and cut into chunks.
    Cook in water. Add butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    Simmer, until tender, adding a little water if necessary. The broth can be thickened by adding a little cornstarch, if desired.
