Old Time Gingerbread Cookies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

5 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
2 eggs
sugar or frosting for top
Preparation

Stir together flour, ginger, cinnamon, soda, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
In saucepan melt shortening.
Remove saucepan from heat.
Beat in sugar and molasses.
Then beat in eggs.
In large mixing bowl beat together the molasses mixture and 1/2 flour mixture.
Then gradually add rest of flour mixture.
Chill dough for about 1 hour.
Then on floured surface roll out dough about 1/2 at a time to about 1/4 inch.
Then, cut with cookie cutter (you can sprinkle with additional sugar if you like).
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are golden.
Cool, then frost if you like.
Makes about 50 cookies.
