Country-Style Chicken Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (3 to 4 lb.) chicken, cut up
    1 onion or leek, chopped
    1 carrot, finely chopped
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    6 c. water
    4 oz. cooked fine egg noodles or 3 c. cooked rice
Preparation
    In 4 quart or larger crock-pot, combine chicken, onion or leek, carrot, celery, parsley, bay leaf, thyme, salt, pepper and water.
    Cover and cook on low 7 or 8 hours or until tender. Remove chicken and bay leaf.
    Turn crock-pot on high.
    Remove meat from chicken parts; cut into bite-size pieces.
    Return chicken to crock-pot; add cooked noodles or rice.
    Serve when heated to desired temperature.
    Makes 8 or 9 servings.
    Each serving contains 188 calories and 6 grams fat.
