Ingredients

3/4 c. Crisco (solid)
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. light molasses (Brer Rabbit)
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugars together.
Add egg and molasses. Stir together the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Add to molasses mixture; mix well.
Chill overnight in refrigerator.
Make into balls and flatten with wooden mallet dipped in flour.
Fill centers with currant jelly.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes. Good luck!
