Ingredients

1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening, softened
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. Quaker oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
Preparation

Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Add shortening, sugar, peanut butter, egg and vanilla.
Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
Blend in oats.
Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake in moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen.
