Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. cold thick unsweetened applesauce
    2/3 c. chopped pecans
    2/3 c. raisins
    4 egg whites
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until light.
    Add egg yolks and applesauce.
    Beat until smooth.
    Then add milk alternately with flour that has been sifted 4 or 5 times with baking powder and spices.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites.
    Makes 3 layers. Grease and flour pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 about 40 minutes.
    (Stew 3 apples over low heat; spread between layers.)
