Buttermilk Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. white Karo
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda, dissolved in milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 stick butter
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans
Preparation
    Mix sugar, syrup, buttermilk, salt and butter in a saucepan. Cook until soft ball forms in cold water.
    Take off of stove and let cool.
    Beat until creamy.
    Add nuts and vanilla; beat until consistency and easy to spread.
    Pour into a buttered platter. Cut into squares when firm.
