Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 1/4 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. bacon drippings
Preparation
    Combine all dry ingredients.
    Add milk, onion and bacon drippings.\tSpread batter evenly 1/2-inch thick on a flat surface with pancake spatula.
    Using a knife, push a 1/2-inch wide \"finger\" of batter off the pancake spatula and into the hot oil.
    As hush puppies float, turn them.
    Keep repeating until all the batter is used.
    Drain on a paper towel.
