Pot-Roasted Hamburger Loaf With Carrots - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 lb. hamburger
    1 egg, grade B
    1 3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
    1/3 c. milk
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    flour
    2 Tbsp. fat
    1/2 c. water
    6 carrots
Preparation
    Mix meat, egg, 1 1/4 teaspoon salt, pepper, bread crumbs and milk.
    Shape into a flat loaf.
    Dredge with flour and brown on both sides in hot fat in a heavy skillet with a cover.
    Add water and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt.
    Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Then add carrots and cook 1/2 hour longer, or until carrots are tender.
    Arrange on hot platter with Potato Pancakes.
