Ranch Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. pinto beans
    6 c. water
    3/4 c. chopped cooked ham
    1/2 lb. bulk sausage, browned
    3/4 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 1/2 tsp. herb and spice blend
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. red pepper
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes and green chilies (undrained), chopped
Preparation
    Sort and wash beans. Cover with water 2-inches above beans and soak for 8 hours. Drain beans and put in Dutch oven. Add water and next 8 ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 1 1/2 hours or until beans are tender, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes and simmer an additional 30 minutes.
