Candied Yams - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 sweet potatoes
    1 c. white sugar
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. butter
Preparation
    Parboil and
    cut potatoes in quarter-inch slices.
    Cook the other ingredients
    to
    form
    syrup.
    Place\tthe
    slices of potatoes in the syrup and simmer gently for one hour, then let syrup boil away slightly.
