Ingredients

1 1/2 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. molasses
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. each: cinnamon, ginger and ground cloves
Preparation

Cream together margarine and sugar.
Add eggs and molasses; beat again.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and spices.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir.
If necessary, gradually add more flour until you are able to roll a small ball of dough in your palms without it sticking.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll them lightly in granulated sugar.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 15 to 18 minutes, until very lightly browned.
They should be chewy, if overbaked, becomes tough.
