Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
2 oz. red food coloring
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Make paste of cocoa and food coloring.
Cream shortening with sugar, add eggs. Combine sifted measured flour with salt.
Add alternately with buttermilk and vanilla to creamed mixture.
Add cocoa paste.
If using electric mixer, remove mixer blades, fold in vinegar and soda.
Pour batter in equal portions into 3 (8-inch) cake pans, greased and lined with waxed paper.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
