Orange Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 whole orange
    1/2 c. raisins
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 scant tsp. baking soda
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. sour or buttermilk
Preparation
    Grind whole orange and raisins.
    Cream sugar and shortening. Add and blend well one egg at a time.
    Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
    Dissolve soda in hot water, add to milk.
    Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk.
    Do not beat, just stir to mix well.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Add orange and raisins.
    Bake in deep pans at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 50 minutes.
    Can be made in layers or 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake until tests done.
