Great-Grandma'S Sheepwagon Carrot Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. raisins
    1 1/3 c. water
    1 tsp. butter
    2 large carrots, finely grated
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. chopped nuts
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    In medium saucepan mix first 8 ingredients.
    Simmer over low heat 5 minutes.
    Cover and set aside for 12 hours.
    Next day add remaining ingredients. Pour mixture into 2 well-greased loaf pans or 1 tube pan.
    Bake at 275\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
    Cool.
    Sprinkle top with powdered sugar or top with a broiled frosting.
