Spinach Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/8 c. sugar
    1/2 Tbsp. salt
    1/8 c. shortening
    2 tsp. dried onions
    1 Tbsp. dill seed
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 pkg. yeast
    1/4 tsp. soda
    3 to 3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan and heat enough to melt shortening.
    Cool to lukewarm and add dill and onion. Measure warm water and yeast into large bowl and allow yeast to start to work.
    Add milk mixture and soda with flour; beat until smooth.
    Knead dough until smooth and elastic.
    Put into a greased bowl, cover and let rise until almost double in size.
    (Before dough is ready to roll out, fry bacon and chop real fine.)
    Roll out dough on flat surface.
