Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. white rice
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sliced onion
    3/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. sugar
    2 whole cloves
    1 bay leaf
    2 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
    1/2 c. water
    3 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
Preparation
    Preheat frypan at
    250\u00b0.
    Add
    shortening
    and rice and stir until rice is lightly browned.
    Mix remaining ingredients together;
    stir.
    Cook covered at 225\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Serves 2.
