Sweet And Sour Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 oz. sliced bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 clove garlic, finely chopped
    8 c. coarsely chopped cabbage (about 1 1/2 lb.)
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    5 Tbsp. distilled white or cider vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp and golden brown, stirring often.
    Remove with slotted spoon to paper toweling to drain.
    Pour off all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat.
    Add onion and garlic to skillet.
    Saute until softened, about 2 minutes.
    Add cabbage.
    Cook, uncovered, over low heat, stirring often, for 15 minutes.
    Add half the bacon.
    Cook 15 minutes longer or until cabbage is tender.
    Stir in sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Transfer cabbage to serving plate.
    Sprinkle with remaining bacon.
