Chinese Five Spice Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 sprinkles dried basil
    2 or 3 sprinkles each: onion and garlic powder
    4 chicken bouillon cubes
    3 chopped carrots
    1 lb. dried yellow or green peas
Preparation
    During cooking time for standard pea soup, add the first 5 ingredients.
    Stir frequently.
    Near end of cooking time, add large pinch of Chinese Five Spice powder and stir.
    Add salt to taste if necessary. Serve with French bread.
