Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk (I use reconstituted dry milk)
    1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry granular
    6 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Scald the milk. Add sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm.
    Soften yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water and add to milk mixture. Add flour gradually, mixing well, to make a stiff dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic.
    Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
    Punch down and let rise again.
    Punch down and make into loaves.
    Will make 2 regular size loaves or 3 small ones.
    Let rise until doubled in bulk.
    Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
