Stove Top Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cooking apples, unpeeled, cored and quartered
    3 c. water
    3 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1 stick cinnamon (approximately 4 inches)
Preparation
    In a heavy pan bring apples and water to a boil.
    Reduce and simmer until apples are tender.
    Press apples through a colander. Discard peels.
    Return pureed apples to heavy pan.
    Stir in other ingredients.
    Simmer, uncovered, stirring frequently until thick and color is dark brown, about 7 to 8 hours.
    Freeze.
    Makes about 6 cups.
    Delicious with hot homemade bread.
