Swedish Nuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pecan halves
    2 egg whites
    1 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    1/2 c. butter
    10 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
    3 egg yolks
    3 1/2 Tbsp. heavy cream
    2 1/2 Tbsp. anisette liqueur
    2 oz. unsalted butter, softened
    cocoa for dusting
    4 very large cooking apples, preferably Northern Spy
    1 3/4 c. brown sugar
    scant 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    speck of salt
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    3/4 c. water
    2 Tbsp. (1/4 stick) butter
    ground cinnamon
    ice cream or half and half
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Core and quarter the apples; do not peel.
    Place the apples in a 3-quart buttered baking dish.
