White Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 scant c. plain flour
    1 pkg. yeast
    2 c. milk (scald can in water)
    2 level tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. sugar
    4 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Sprinkle yeast over 1/2 cup warm milk or water.
    Add rest of lukewarm liquid, salt and sugar.
    Mix well.
    Add all of flour. When partially mixed, add melted shortening.
    Mix well with hands. Keep sides of bowl clean.
    Turn out on lightly floured board; knead until smooth and bubbly.
    Cover; let stand until double in size in warm place.
    Knead down; divide dough for loaves, if desired.
    Place in well-greased pans; let rise until double.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for the first 20 minutes.
    Reduce heat to 350\u00b0; bake until well browned and shrunk from sides of pan.
    Makes 2 loaves.
