Down South Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried pinto beans
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    1/4 tsp. red pepper
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 large ham hock
    sliced green onions
Preparation
    Sort
    and
    wash
    beans
    and place in Dutch oven.
    Cover with 4
    inches
    water.
    Add
    salt,
    chili powder, red pepper, pepper, garlic and ham hock and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and
    simmer 8 hours, adding water as needed.
    Remove meat from bone,
    return meat to beans.
    Top with green onions.
    Makes 6 servings.
