Ingredients

3 c. plain flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift flour and measure.
Add baking powder and salt; sift together.
Cream shortening and sugar, then add egg yolks, milk and flour.
Blend thoroughly.
Add vanilla and mix well.
Add beaten egg whites.
Pour into two 9-inch cake pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
