No Fail Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. boiling water
    3 egg whites (room temperature)
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Blend cornstarch and water in a saucepan, stirring, until it gets clear and thick.
    Cool.
    Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar, vanilla, salt and cooled cornstarch mixture. Beat until stiff.
    Spread over the pie and bake at 425\u00b0 for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes.
    Makes enough meringue for 1 pie.
