Holiday Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft shortening
    2 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    3 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. pecans
    2 c. candied cherries, chopped
    2 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Combine shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Mix and stir in sour milk.
    Sift dry ingredients together and stir in pecans, cherries and dates.\tChill at least 1 hour.\tPreheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Drop by teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
    Makes about 8 dozen.
