Ingredients

1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. hot tap water
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. chocolate chips
Preparation

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl with electric mixer and beat until smooth.
Dissolve baking soda in water and add with remaining ingredients.
Stir with wooden spoon until just combined.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 7 to 10 minutes.
