Crosscut Pickle Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers, sliced (about 6 lb.)
    12 to 15 small white onions
    2 qt. or 2 trays ice
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. white vinegar
    2 large garlic cloves
    1/3 c. salt
    4 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers thoroughly and drain.
    Slice, unpeeled, into 1/8-inch slices.
    Add onions and garlic.
    Add salt and mix thoroughly.
    Cover with crushed ice or cubes.
    Let stand 3 hours.
